Dear New Second Graders,

 

     Welcome to our school and to second grade! We do lots of fun learning. You will be assigned to a homerom and you do all your major subjects in that class. Occasionally, for fun, we switch classes with the other second grade teachers.

     In math you will use a new program called Origo and a new reading series called Scott Foresman. You will do lots of different writing pieces and learn the writing process. You will learn about different Native American cultures, different Christmas cultures, fairytales, and lots more! We will also read lots of great storis including "The Polar Express."

     We have a pajama day and go on lots of great field trips! In the fall, we go to the pumpkin patch and, in the winter, we will visit Planetarium. We will also visit a one-room schoolhouse. At the end of the year the second grade puts on a musical for the entire school! It is called BUGZ or Go Fish.

     We do lots of fun and exciting learning in second grade and we are so happy to have you! WELCOME!
